A jouney to enlightenment.

Greetings Marlon,

No offence taken. If you like to know the whole story/history of Commodore or Amiga, you may want to visit this site:

http://www.amigau.com
http://commodorebillboard.com

The Amiga story has a lots of ups and downs to name a few, here a bit of a story:

After Commodore went bankrupt, there was ESCOM. ESCOM went bankrupt too cause they had to sholder all Commodore debts. Then after ESCOM was GATEWAY(not the mall here in Cubao;-P) Inc.After Gateway could not handle the pressure brought by the demands of much of the users now AMIGA Inc. Who later gave the rights to upgrade the new OS OS4 to Hyperion. While all hell breaks loose at AMiga inc, They sold the rights now to KMOS Inc.

All of these are just tid bits you'll read from Amiga University. Go there now and find the link the History in chronological order. You'll see the humble beginnings of the 'Lorrain' Project to Amiga OS4 and some screen shots.
The commodore billboard site has all the archives of the marketing materials from Commodore.

Hope you'll continue the journey to enlightment. But the best to know Amiga is to REALLY own one. Not the Emulator. It's still different. Although, in term of advancement, I still find the classics better than the emulated version(WINUAE).
Hopefully, the next generation Amigas will do fill-in the gap where the classics left off. Someday... only time could tell.

-edit-
Gosh, I can't post a comment from my own, so I decided to create a new blog specially for you. Thanks again for the comments Marlon.

Hi sir. First of all, Season's Greetings to you. Hope this bad weather we are having right now won't wreck havoc this coming christmas season. I already smells the turkey being roasted in the oven...hehe. What a sob story for the Amiga industry...So, before the Amiga, there was the Commodore? How come all the books Ive read about the history of computers from 1st generation that uses vaccum tubes to third generation of IC processors dosen't mention anything about the Commodore or Amiga computers. Do they really meant to kill it?

Gee... Is The title" journey to enlightment" meant for me?... It sounds like part one in a trilogy movie wherein the young warrior came to know his destiny to be fulfilled. hehe.;-) Well, to tell you honestly sir. Im not really sure if i could fulfill that destiny of being one fo the future of Amiga. Its not that I don't want to... There are things I need to prioritize first before anything else. Im really intersted but I just really can't. It's hard for me to explain. I don't really know If I could own one unit. But like the title said, its a journey Iam taking wheter i make it or not. Enough of the drama!!! hehe.

Greetings Marlon,

Well so much so that the 'Journey' is also your choice. I'm not forcing you anything. I'm just showing you the way to it. Whether or not you choose it. Only you can answer that owning a real Amiga, but an advice as a friend to do so in case you really want to do it.

On the side of the weather, It ain't over yet. ATM there's (yoyong) threatening. Freakish weather though. My respect to those who lost their lives during this troubled times.

Thanks for your time. May you post more.

Regards,

Gizz

Greetings,

On your earlier question on why they meant to kill the Amiga. I see your point. The Amiga Techonogy was patented back in the days when Commodore purchase the Amiga Technology. So doing it, only mismanagement was the reason that killed the Amiga. The last CEO never believe that they don't need advertisements for the Amiga. Thier heart was not in the right place.

If your book tell you that Amiga is unknown, they're wrong! I have a book for Beginners that has a picture of the Amiga1000. As I said, former CEO never believe in information decimination that is why very little books and references has information of the Amiga back in those days and even today. To tell you the truth I used to think and wonder the same thing. ;-)
